Ingredients

Scale

For the Pork Chops

  • 4 boneless pork chops (about 1 inch thick)

For the Coating

  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crunch)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs (such as oregano and basil)
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)

For Dredging and Cooking

  • 1 large egg (beaten)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for frying or drizzling)
  • Fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven (if baking): Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prepare for baking the pork chops.
  2. Mix Coating Ingredients: In a shallow dish, combine grated Parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, dried Italian herbs, salt, and pepper to create the flavorful crust mixture.
  3. Prepare the Pork Chops: Pat the pork chops dry with paper towels, then season both sides with salt and pepper. Dip each pork chop into the beaten egg, allowing any excess to drip off. Next, press each pork chop into the Parmesan breadcrumb mixture, coating evenly on both sides.
  4. Cook the Pork Chops: Choose your preferred method:
Option 1 – Baking: Place the coated pork chops on the prepared baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C) and the coating is golden brown.
Option 2 – Pan-Frying: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the coated pork chops and fry for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  5. Serve: Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired and serve immediately with sides such as mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables, or a fresh salad.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, use panko breadcrumbs instead of regular breadcrumbs.
  • Ensure pork chops reach an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C) for safe consumption.
  • You can customize the Italian herbs to your preference, adding thyme or rosemary for different flavors.
  • Drizzling olive oil on top before baking helps achieve a golden crust without frying.
  • Let the pork chops rest a few minutes after cooking to retain juices and improve tenderness.
