Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the vanilla extract and mix well. Gradually incorporate the all-purpose flour until a soft dough forms.
  2. Shape the Cookies: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  3. Create Thumbprints: Using your thumb or the back of a small spoon, gently press an indent into the center of each dough ball, being careful not to press all the way through.
  4. Fill with Jam: Spoon about a half teaspoon of your chosen fruit jam into each indentation.
  5. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges of the cookies turn a light golden brown.
