Batter Ingredients
- ⅔ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ¾ teaspoons baking powder
- ½ cup milk or almond milk
Apple Mixture
- 2 apples, peeled and chopped
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Cinnamon Sugar Mixture
- ⅓ cup light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Glaze
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 1 to 3 tablespoons milk or cream
- Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Make Cinnamon Sugar Mix: In a small bowl, combine ⅓ cup light brown sugar and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon. Set aside for layering later.
- Prepare Apples: Toss peeled and chopped apples with 2 tablespoons granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon in another bowl. Set aside to macerate slightly.
- Cream Butter and Sugar: In a medium mixing bowl, cream together ⅔ cup granulated sugar and softened butter until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- Add Eggs and Vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract to enhance the flavor.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour and 1 ¾ teaspoons baking powder.
- Mix Batter: Alternately add the flour mixture and ½ cup milk to the creamed butter mixture, beginning and ending with the flour. Mix until just combined to avoid overmixing.
- Layer Batter and Apple Mixtures: Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Layer half of the apple mixture over the batter, then sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar mixture on top.
- Repeat Layers: Repeat with the remaining batter, apples, and cinnamon sugar mixture. Lightly press the apples into the batter and swirl the cinnamon sugar mix into the batter with a knife to distribute.
- Bake: Bake for 60 to 70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool: Let the bread cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Prepare Glaze: Mix ½ cup powdered sugar with 1 to 3 tablespoons milk or cream until smooth and drizzle over the cooled bread.

- You can substitute unsalted butter with vegetable oil for a dairy-free option.
- This bread can be made ahead and stored at room temperature or refrigerated.
- Mini loaf pans or muffin tins can be used, but adjust baking time accordingly.
- The bread freezes well for up to 3 months; thaw before serving.
