Butter-Toasted Ravioli is a delightful twist on classic ravioli, featuring cheese-filled pasta pan-toasted in a savory mixture of butter, olive oil, garlic, and Italian seasoning until golden and crispy. Finished with a generous sprinkle of Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley, this easy-to-make dish offers a crispy exterior with a gooey, cheesy center, perfect as an appetizer or main course.

Ingredients

Scale

Ravioli

  • 1 package (12 oz) fresh or frozen cheese ravioli

Butter Mixture

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (divided)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Finish and Garnish

  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • Red pepper flakes (optional, for a spicy kick)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Ravioli: If using frozen ravioli, cook according to package instructions until al dente. For fresh ravioli, boil in salted water for 3-4 minutes until they float to the surface. Drain and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Butter Mixture: Heat olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. When melted, add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Toast the Ravioli: Add cooked ravioli to the skillet. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Gently toss to coat ravioli in the butter mixture. Cook for 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden and crispy on both sides.
  4. Add Parmesan: Reduce heat to low. Sprinkle grated Parmesan evenly over the ravioli and add remaining 2 tablespoons butter. Allow cheese to melt and adhere, gently tossing to coat ravioli.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Remove skillet from heat. Transfer ravioli to a serving platter. Garnish with chopped parsley and red pepper flakes if desired.
  6. Enjoy: Serve immediately while hot to enjoy the crispy, cheesy Butter-Toasted Ravioli.

Notes

  • Use fresh ravioli for a tender texture; frozen works well too when cooked properly.
  • Adjust seasoning to your taste, adding more Italian herbs or spices if preferred.
  • For extra crispiness, make sure the skillet is hot before adding ravioli.
  • Serve with a side of marinara sauce for dipping if desired.
  • Red pepper flakes add a mild heat, omit if you prefer mild flavor.
