Ingredients

Scale

Sandwich Ingredients

  • 2 slices thick cut bread
  • 2 Tbsp garlic and herb spreadable cheese (Boursin), softened
  • 2 Tbsp fig preserves
  • 3 oz Brie cheese, in 4 slices
  • 6 thin slices Granny Smith apple
  • 1 Tbsp butter, softened

Instructions

  1. Prepare the bread: Spread garlic and herb spreadable cheese on one side of one slice of bread. Spread fig preserves on one side of the other bread slice.
  2. Assemble the sandwich: Place 2 slices of Brie over the garlic and herb cheese. Arrange the Granny Smith apple slices in a single, non-overlapping layer on top of the Brie. Add the remaining 2 slices of Brie over the apples. Carefully invert the fig preserves slice of bread over the Brie to form the sandwich, fig-side down.
  3. Butter the bread: Spread the softened butter evenly on the outer sides of both slices of bread to prepare for grilling.
  4. Start grilling the sandwich: Heat a medium skillet over medium heat. Place the sandwich in the skillet and cook until the bottom bread is golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Cook the other side: Flip the sandwich and reduce the heat to low to prevent burning. Cook for 4-5 minutes until the other side is browned.
  6. Melt the Brie thoroughly: Keep the heat low and continue cooking, flipping the sandwich every minute or two, for another 5-6 minutes. This ensures the Brie melts fully inside while keeping the bread from burning.
  7. Serve: Transfer the grilled sandwich to a cutting board, cut in half, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use thick-cut bread for the best texture and to hold the fillings well.
  • Softened butter spreads easier and helps achieve a golden crust.
  • Cooking over low heat after flipping ensures the cheese melts without burning the bread.
  • You can substitute fig preserves with any sweet jam like apricot or raspberry if preferred.
  • Thinly sliced apples provide a crisp contrast but feel free to adjust thickness to your preference.
